NOTES: After Ewen was born in Mt Gambier the family moved to Colac. He was working as a farm hand in Apollo Bay when Duty Called and he enlisted in the AMF in 1940. He arrived in the Middle East and was captured in Tobruk in 1941. He was wounded in action with a gunshot wound to the left leg and was hospitalised in Derna, Bengahasi and then in Italy. He spent the remainder of the war as a Prisoner of War in Poland. He disembarked in Australia on 24 July 1945. On return Ewen worked for Trans Otway in Apollo Bay.
