Notes: Ronald Beckmann’s father, Henry, had been in business as a tailor in Beeac for several years. He later purchased and took over Mr. Richard Clarke’s tailoring business in Murray Street, Colac. The Beckmann name can still be seen in the floor of the entrance to what was once the tailors shop. They employed both female and male tailors and many smart young ladies in Colac had their coats and suits made by ‘Beckmanns 123’. Ronald enlisted in the Militia and later transferred to the RAAF where he served as a Flight Lieutenant. He was a tall, dapper gentleman and caught the eye of Jessie McCallum of Birregurra and a former Morongo student.. They were married in 1949 at the Melbourne Grammar School Chapel.
